Pataray Business Services (PBS) is a Sole-proprietorship in legal structure and a professional service providing company that is registered with the South Dakota Secretary of State, South Dakota Department of Revenue, and Internal Revenue Services (IRS). Our founder, owner, and manager Shamsul Alam Pataray (Ruble) started PBS in 2013 to provide services to people of Sioux Falls Community. Through his education and over 20 years of full-time work experience, Ruble has become one of the top Efficiency and Compliance Consultants in North America. He wants to share his expertise to help our local Individuals, Small and Mid-size Businesses as well as Non-profit Organizations to achieve Operational Efficiency and Regulatory Compliance.
PBS operates in a Home Office, based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. However, we utilize a seasonal office space for the weekends, during Tax Season. We don’t have high overhead cost like a traditional office would have. That’s how we provide our services to our clients most often at lower cost than others. We also have limited hours and appointment-based service policies. We utilize technology to the fullest but we still like in-person interactions with our clients. Like many of you, I am an Immigrant and I came to America in May of 2001. Born and raised in Bangladesh, I finished my Bachelor degree Accounting before I came to America. I studied through free academic (merit based) and athletic (soccer) scholarships in Bangladesh. During my study in Govt. B.L. University College, Khulna, I was elected as “Student Body Representative” by my classmates. However, I was also a victim of “Session Jam” caused by “Violence Related to Student Politics” and lost many friends starting in 1993. I was lucky to Escape Bangladesh Alive by Arriving in America. Even though I had options to go to other countries, I was meant to be in America and here I am!
Coming to America was the greatest opportunity of my life and I am Grateful to so many people who contributed to my current professional and personal successes. The Horrific Tragedies of September 11, 2001 (9/11) changed everything in America and I was not taking the risks of going back to Bangladesh without my citizenship. I have been a proud Naturalized American Citizen since 2008. My dad was not alive to hear about my American Citizenship, as he passed away in 2005 and I have not seen him since I left in 2001. Right after my citizenship, I registered as a No Party Affiliation voter and got my American Passport. I have been visiting my mom in Bangladesh where she lives with my other siblings.
From the day I was born (my mom, who was only 18 at that time, says a week before actual birth), I was given very minimal chances to survive and succeed in life. Growing up as the Oldest of 7 Kids (6 boys and one girl, my sister is the youngest!) in Bangladesh immediately
after 1971’s Independence and Political Violences, we didn’t have a lot of things that today’s generation have. Whether it is imperfect physical appearance or speech impairment, or not so great handwriting, my life is proof that we can Overcome Deficiencies Through Determination and Opportunities.
I started PBS in 2013 to provide services to a few businesses and non-profit organizations that were mostly owned/operated by our South-Asian and East-African Immigrants in Sioux Falls. Besides 6 months in Americus, Georgia, I have lived, worked, and attended schools in South Dakota. Even though I travel all over America and the world, I still say that Sioux Falls Is My Home. Besides my son Jasper, I don’t have any biological family members in America. I enjoy spending time with friends and eating homemade foods from various cultures. I love grilling, fishing, camping, hunting, outdoor festivals, and traveling. Have I mentioned Traveling already?!
Accountability and Ownership have been the leading principals of my life. I am Blessed to be a full-time single father to my son Jasper, since he was 2 years old. I consider myself as a Progressive person, meaning I can always make incremental changes to get better at things. I believe in kindness, equality, inclusiveness, mutual respect, caring, sharing, and giving back to the communities that helped me reach at this point in my life. I combine my personal life experiences, principals, and success strategies to apply in my professional life to make my employers and clients’ businesses/organizations Profitable and Sustainable.

I have been helping my dad with his tax office/clients since 2018. I am honored to earn the title Junior Assistant, thank you boss (dad)! I like to play various video games in my free time. I love to design and develop video games and characters through my art. I might not be like my dad (Tax Man) when I grow up!
I also love to travel with my dad. Watching movies on the plane ride, riding newer model cars, and going up and down in the hotel elevators are few of my favorite things to do while I am travelling. Because of Covid-19 restrictions, I started to travel for my birthday in April of 2021. My first plane ride was to Denver, CO. Ever since that Denver trip, I

Ruble provided exceptional Accounting and Tax Compliance (both income tax and sales tax) services for our Partnership-grocery store for 6 years. First year of opening our store, we went to H & R Block and paid a lot of money just for income tax filing. After that year, Ruble provided our full Accounting, South Dakota Sales Tax, and Federal Income tax for Partnership and Partners for 6 years (till we moved out of South Dakota) for 50% of H & R Block’s Price.
